Today brought a day full of beautiful scenery, views, and company.
We started the day in Grasmere where we toured Dove Cottage--the home of William Wordsworth. We also got some fantastic gingerbread in the town!!
We drove this morning from Edinburgh to Ambleside--the Lake District. We got checked into our hostel which was right on Lake Windermere. It was the most beautiful sight to be right on the lake and surrounded by gorgeous, lush greenery on the mountains.

Rachel, Brooke, and I decided that we really wanted to hike to the top of one of the mountains. So we asked some locals for directions to climb to the top of Loughrigg Mountain. It was a very pleasant hike--steep enough to keep us breathing heavily but not enough to overexert ourselves. When we made it to the top we were met with one of the most beautiful views I've ever seen of Lake Windermere. I almost don't want to post any pictures because they simply cannot do the view any justice (but I will anyway). Words cannot describe the peace and serenity the three of us felt as we sat on the mountainside and talked for nearly an hour. It was us, the mountain, the sky, and the occasional group of sheep we came across.
After our 4 hour hike, we descended back to the hostel where we ate dinner. We then went out and walked around the town and naturally ended up with some ice cream bars.
It was honestly one of the most perfect days. I couldn't be happier!!
xoxo,
Mallory
